You would be right in thinking that a fair few of my recent posts have featured shoes. I have no idea why but I have been going a tad shoe crazy over the last year or so. In my defence I have been actively trying not to buy things similar to what I already own and focus more on ‘day time’ shoes and less on evening/special occasion footwear (put myself on a Louboutin ban towards the end of last year, didn’t I). Espadrilles are something I’d never really considered buying until recently. I didn’t think they would suit me and I usually wear flats in the day. Last month I decided to give a pair a go and took a shine to these beauties. I only ever intended to buy one pair, but that went out of the window when I ordered my second pair (here) the day the first arrived.

Castañer espadrilles are fairly popular online but I hadn’t seen anyone with the colours that I chose, as I was going for what colours I’ve recently been loving. I’ve always adored blush pink tones and I love the contrast of the slightly darker heel. I did worry they would be too high for daytime but the style of them keeps them fairly casual. You could easily dress them up or down to suit the occasion. I’ve recently been expanding my wardrobe’s lack of yellow, so the yellow pair have become a great addition. They are slightly lower than the pink pair which makes them even more relaxed and casual.

Since ordering mine I have posted them on Instagram quite a few times (you can find me on there @emilyjanehardy) and I have been asked a few questions about them. So I thought I’d include some of those below, along with general things I’d like to include regarding fit, etc.

Are they comfortable? So comfortable! They are incredibly well made and worth every penny in my opinion. I was so surprised with how comfortable they are and the platform heel means you don’t feel like you are wearing a high heel. I walk pretty well in heels anyway (or so I think), but find these very easy to wear for prolonged periods. The sole has a rubber base, which I think adds to comfort. They feel heavy to hold in your hand (the higher pair especially) but I don’t find them heavy to walk around in. Sizing? I am my usual UK shoe size so they are true to size. They are only available in full sizes, which is lucky for me as I am rarely a half size, but they suggest to take the next size up if you are usually a half size. I have narrow feet (these are perfect for me), although I don’t see why those with wider feet wouldn’t be able to wear them, as they are material. Do the ankle ties stay fastened/tight? Personally on me, yes. So far so good. They haven’t slipped down or come undone.

I’ve been wearing them quite a lot, especially the slightly lower yellow pair. I know I won’t get much wear out of them as the weather changes and the lower heel is so practical, so I have been making the most of them whilst I can. I chose Castañer espadrilles as I wanted to go for good quality and an investment. I fully intend on wearing these every summer from now on until they fall apart.

I have tried to include as much information about them as I can, but if you have any more questions feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you own a pair I would love to know your thoughts on them too!

Hi! No, I haven’t noticed anything – but not worn them for a while with winter 🙂
